Applications Accepted From: All Persons Interested Division: COVID-19 Community Vaccine Outreach Section: Immunizations Workdays & Hours: MONDAY FRIDAY, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Houston Health Department is searching for individuals to provide clerical/administrative support to ensure quality customer service assistance. Responds to routine customer requests or inquiries received by mail, telephone, e-mail and personal contact. The Essential Functions are as follow: Performs basic research and gathers necessary information to resolve routine customer problems and respond to inquiries via mail, telephone, e-mail and personal contact. Communicates findings to customers. Refers non-routine problems to supervisor. Performs data entry activities to update customer records within authorized limits. Receives and verifies completeness and accuracy of requests from customers; processes requests and work orders utilizing a computer terminal and/or tracking system. Provides information about City services, ordinances, policies, procedures and pricing. May act as a backup to a customer service section and an administrative support section. May process work orders/requests and make changes to update customer account information. May gather or collect information to generate reports, activity logs, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. General office conditions. May require long periods of standing at counter. Job Requirements: EDUCATIONA EQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or a GED. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Six months of administrative or customer service related experience is required. Substitution: An Associates degree may be substituted for the experience requirement LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. Experience with COVID-19 related activities SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED None; however, the department may administer a skills assessment review. SAFETY IMPACT POSITION YES If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test. SALARY INFORMATION GRANT FUNDED Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
