Springfield, MO, is searching for a Development Engineer.
DescriptionPosition Summary:This position is responsible for
developing new belt products and processes and maintain existing
products within a team environment and coordinating all available
resources to create competitive products.Essential Job Duties:
- Developing new product designs (specifications) and processes
and establishing their characteristics to satisfy identified scope
and deliverables.
- Maintaining and revising existing product designs
(specifications) and processes as requested/required.
- Identifying new and existing product and process concerns,
problems and tendencies.
- Establish new test procedures, initiating tests and evaluating
test results.
- Identifying and coordinating the development of new test
equipment and the upgrading of existing test equipment.
- Providing product and process support and assistance to the
Application and Process Technology Groups.
- Providing product and process support and assistance to
manufacturing.
- Providing product and process support and assistance to Product
management, Marketing and Sales as required.
- Provide support and input to the ISO "Long Track" Design
Control procedures.
- Receives new product development scope and deliverables from
Product Management.
- Leads or serves on Product Development Teams.
- Interacts with various members of the Power Transmission
Groups, Material Science, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing,
Sup-pliers, and Customers in developing new and maintaining
existing products and evaluating problems.
- Accountable for developing new product specifications and
controls (approves) the modification of existing product
specifications.
- Recommends new product and process release to Product
Management, General Manager, PT Group, Manufacturing, Development
and Process Managers.
- Recommends product design and process solutions to Product
Management, General Manager, PT Group, Manufacturing, Development
and Process Managers.Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or other related
field
- 3 to 5 years in product development and testing
- Knowledge of testing techniques, analysis, statistics, design
of experiments, product reliability, and a familiarity with
equipment design is required.Technical/Functional Skills:
- Understanding of statistics for analyzing results
preferred
- Must be able to work well in a team environment.
- Organizational skills to work on and prioritize multiple
projects
- Must have engineering background and understanding of rotating
fatigue
- Rubber chemistry is a plus
- Strong written, and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving skillsLanguage Skills: Ability to read and
interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine
reports and complete necessary production forms. Ability to speak
effectively with fellow employees and/or customers. Mathematical
Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units
of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, rate, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables; problem
solving ability.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and
use hands/arms. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear at
conversational level, and smell. The employee is occasionally
required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently
lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50
pounds. Moving/lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance
from another employee or a lifting device/hoist. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Work
Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is
may be frequently exposed to chemicals, hot/cold conditions, or
noisy conditions.Required Personal Protective Equipment: Employee
is required to wear proper safety eyewear and steel-toed shoes at
