POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supervises maintenance activities at the Verona Site
which is a 24/7/365 chemical manufacturing operations.. This
position assists in activities of site equipment evaluation, new
process and product scale-up, as well as plant improvements and
supporting services. Assists in maintaining compliance in
Environmental, Safety and Health and that all functions are
accomplished safely, timely, economically and in compliance with
GMP and other regulatory requirements. This position works directly
with the Purchasing function to ensure that parts and supplies
necessary for daily operations and/or repairing of equipment and
parts inventory are properly maintained. Develops and maintains
relationships with vendors. The Maintenance Supervisor assists
Project Managers in planning and implementing cost effective
results.
This is a high tempo, fast paced position. It requires off hours
support, weekend support, and requires both technical and
managerial skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including
use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards; works to
advance and promote the safety culture of the site
Assists Site Manager and Production Managers(s) to ensure
compliance with EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations as they relate to
plant design and operations; maintains plant safety, PSM, RMP,
housekeeping and environmental standards and is GMP/SQF
compliant.
Ensures the safety of personnel and property by making sure that
safety equipment is worn, that unsafe acts or conditions are
corrected, routinely inspects safety equipment, investigates and
reports any potential hazards to the Site Manager(s) and/or Safety
Manager
Supervises the shift by shift maintenance activities of the
mechanics
Communicates expectations to each shift on a shift by shift basis
as determined by the Site Services Manager or Production
Manager(s)
Makes sure adequate personnel coverage is provided each shift to
maintain production levels and best utilize personnel
Makes sure that adequate training and documentation is provided;
assists in training new personnel, observes and records progress
and ensures that operators follow correct procedures; takes
corrective action as required by demonstrating proper techniques,
making adjustments to equipment, procedures or consulting with
appropriate personnel to determine proper action to meet production
and training objectives
Provides discipline and documentation when needed, in the form of
verbal and/or written warnings
Works closely with the Production Departments to optimize plant up
time by communicating the needed repairs in a timely manner to the
mechanics and working consistently with the Production Departments
through completion of repairs and/or improvements
Assists with the implementation process for approved projects
Monitors both plant-managed and vendor-managed inventory levels to
maintain plant uptime, communicates needs to purchasing department.
Receives and distributes incoming inventory as needed
Assists Project Manager in capital projects as necessary
Works closely with maintenance department and vendors to ensure
that all needs are met in a timely manner
Performs other duties as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred and a minimum 5 years of
experience in a maintenance environment with supervisory experience
- journeyman millwright level skills preferred
Must be responsible; maintain a positive work attitude, safety
minded, quality minded, management supportive, and company
oriented
Able to wear a respirator
Able to stand, walk and endure varying weather conditions, ability
to lift 50 lbs., bend, kneel, crawl, etc. as necessary to
physically examine & repair machinery within plant.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Basic knowledge of Pumps
(diaphragm, centrifugal, etc.), HMI use, valves, reactors, dryers,
and other equipment typical in a chemical plant (additional
training may be mandated)
