HDR is seeking an entry-level Traffic EIT/Coordinator to help expand our services in the Midwest, with a focus on Missouri and Kansas. The position would report to the Traffic and Planning Section in Kansas City, Missouri.

The individual in this position supports all aspects of large multi-disciplinary traffic engineering and transportation planning projects that may include:

  • Transportation plans - local, regional and statewide
  • Design of traffic signals, lighting, maintenance-of-traffic (MOT), Intelligent Transportation Systems, signing, and pavement marking
  • Traffic engineering studies such as speed studies, signal warrants, parking studies, access management, travel time, traffic impact studies, etc.
  • Use of large datasets (HERE, INRIX, etc.) to support model building, calibration, and analysis
  • Operational analysis using both microsimulation and deterministic models
  • Transit studies (rail and bus)
  • Bicycle and pedestrian studies
  • Geospatial analysis and mapping
  • Highway/roadway safety analyses
  • Transportation planning reports
  • Corridor studies
  • Transportation demand forecasting/modeling inputs and outputs
  • Transportation research
  • Environmental documents The individual in this position uses analytical tools and software to perform transportation analyses, and contributes technical elements to study reports.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, or similar. Advanced degree a plus.
    • 0 years of relevant experience with transportation engineering and/or planning.
    • Analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
    • On a track toward professional registration (PE, AICP).
    • Programming skills (VBA, Python, R, MATLAB, Java, etc.) - especially in support of microsimulation - a plus.
    • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must. Preferred Qualifications
      • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
      • Preference given to local candidates
