Job Description:

The Communications Editorial Specialist creates professional, informative, functional, and easy-to-read materials for O"Reilly team members, shareholders, and customers. They develop, edit, and proofread communication pieces for all company publications, as well as external documents and create key company communication pieces in the areas of news/announcements, policies/procedures, team member benefits, new team member recruitment, finance, safety and health, legal and regulatory compliance, as well as general business operations for O'Reilly stores, distribution centers, and corporate.

Essential Job Functions
Writing:
Research, interview, write, and proof stories as assigned.
Organize and coordinate the entire story process from idea, to interview, to completion, while keeping in mind accuracy and O"Reilly style.
Identify valuable communications projects/stories.

Editorial: Pitch, brainstorm, and generate story ideas for company, customer-facing, and shareholder documents.
Work with the Communications team, corporate departments, stores, and distribution centers (DCs), to develop and suggest content to keep every member of Team O'Reilly informed.
Makes decisions and analyzes opportunities for communicating company culture, initiatives, policies/procedures, operations, special events, and news with stores, DCs, offices, and field team members.
Develop content schedules that reach all areas of the company including Team Spirit magazine, newsletters, enterprise-wide communications platform Zipline, and company intranet (TeamNet).

Grammar/Proofreading: Responsible for meeting our company standards of grammar and style by proofing and editing communications, as well as all O'Reilly department documents.
Provide expertise to the importance of these standards in all messaging.
Maintain the O'Reilly Rules of Style and ensure all communication is factually and grammatically correct.

Skills and qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; journalism and/or communications degree desired.
Advanced typing skills, Microsoft Word Proficiency and experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of rules of grammar and experience with AP Style.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

This is a full-time opportunity; Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
