Responsibilities

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling activities of the Grand Jury.

As a Grand Jury Coordinator you will:

  • Conduct a variety of grand jury administrative duties associated with grand jury operations, i.e., develop orientation materials for new grand jurors, draft and send juror summons, monitor compliance with summons.
  • Assemble all necessary information for presentation of indictments. Obtain documentation or other records required for presentation of a case to the grand jury.
  • Conduct grand jury logistical support duties, i.e, schedule appearances, coordinate returns of indictments with the Court Clerk, coordinate with Victim Witness staff regarding appearances of victims and witnesses.
  • Process financial subpoenas to ensure compliance with DOJ policies and procedures for reimbursement.
  • Responsible for District-wide tracking of taxpayer return and return information.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-8:To be eligible at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal service.

Specialized experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in federal service. To qualify, the applicant must demonstrate experience in at least two of the following:

  • Prepares legal actions such as indictments, criminal complaints, search warrants, applications, notices, affidavits, summonses and/or grand jury subpoenas, and/or
  • Examines, prepares and processes a variety of technical legal documents; and/or
  • Providing information and assistance relating to grand jury investigations/matters scheduled for grand jury, and legal administrative procedure to be followed.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
