CoxHealth is recruiting for an Emergency Medicine Pharmacist and Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHARMACIST The Emergency Medicine Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for the Springfield CoxHealth EDs and all associated areas (e.g., pediatrics, trauma, urgent care), including pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Provide pharmacy review of high-risk medication orders prior to administration. • Provide patient-specific medication use teaching for discharge medications when appropriate. • Focus on cost avoidance and cost savings due to medication use in the ED. • Facilitate proper information transfer with regard to medication use for patients converted to inpatient status from ED. • Work collaboratively with other clinicians and health care providers to implement and maintain innovative disease management programs and clinical pharmacy services. • Participate in the development of medication management programs within the institution, including clinical guidelines, critical pathways, disease management, and drug use programs. • Participate in providing didactic and experiential training in clinical pharmacy for PharmD students and pharmacy residents. • Actively participate in clinical research projects. • Participate in the professional development and competency of clinical staff. Function as an educational resource for pharmacy staff. • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of PGY1 critical care pharmacy residency program. • Meet and maintain academic and professional requirements for CoxHealth residency programs. • Keep informed of all local, State, and Federal laws covering the storage, handling, and dispensing of drugs; and interpret each prescription order to determine that it meets all legal requirements. • Keep informed of the actions, side effects, and proper use of all new drugs as they are made commercially available, as well as of all investigational drugs being studied at CoxHealth. • Participate collegially in the development of new programs, services, and practices in the education activities of the department and the management and administration of the department. Highly desired: ATLS Course Completion (audit). Well-versed in medication management and pharmacology in the following areas: o Airway management, RSI/Post-RSI sedation. o Ambulatory care. o Cardiology. o Critical care. o General medicine. o Infectious diseases. o Pediatrics. o Procedural sedation. o Psychiatry. o Toxicology/drugs of abuse/overdose. EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHARMACIST Education Required: Bachelors in Pharmacy - Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of Pharmacy Preferred: Doctorate of Pharmacy - Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 residency Experience Required: No Prior Experience Required Preferred: 2 years healthcare setting or equivalent residency training Skills: None specified Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Registered with Missouri Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacist **Eligibility for licensure requires submission of application for Pharmacy License at time of hire** Medication Therapy Services Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire AMBULATORY CARE PHARMACY SPECIALIST The Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist provides pharmaceutical care services in assigned clinic or hospital areas. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and modifying patient pharmacotherapies to ensure that medication is indicated, effective, and safe. Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice at CoxHealth seeks to provide comprehensive medication management for patients who are part of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and other value based care programs. Medication management efforts will be focused on achieving the Quadruple AIM of improving healthcare quality, reducing healthcare cost, and improving experience for both patients and the healthcare team. The specialist will participate in collaborative practice and/or protocol-driven practice as appropriate, and complete documentation for pharmacist activities. The specialist will participate in and support research activities of the department and the clinic areas served as well as support the continuous improvement, patient safety, and accreditation programs of the department and institution. Additional responsibilities and teaching experiences will vary, as well as involvement in projects and committees. In addition to clinical practice, successful candidates for this position are expected to teach and precept within the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency curriculum. The individual must display strong initiative, leadership, independence, collaborative, and communication skills. AMBULATORY CARE PHARMACY SPECIALIST Education Required: Graduation from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Completion of a minimum of one year (PGY1) of pharmacy residency training or three years work experience in the ambulatory pharmacy setting. Preferred: Completion of a PGY2 second-year specialty residency in Ambulatory Care Skills Proficiency in direct patient care Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to work independently and in collaboration with additional provider and pharmacy teams Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Missouri Pharmacist license or eligible for licensure BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days MTM/MTS certification Board certification in Ambulatory Care or Pharmacotherapy within 3 years of starting the position
