Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt
Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement
program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements
in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application
within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to
$200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined
by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after
complete review of the EDRP application. Qualifications To qualify
for this position, you must meet theBasic Requirements: --- as well
as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job
announcement --- Applicants pending the completion of training or
license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but
may not be hired until all requirements are met --- Currently
employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for
appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time
of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic
requirements of the occupation --- Basic Requirements: United
States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is
not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA
Policy --- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree
resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic
medicine --- The degree must have been obtained from one of the
schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year
in which the course of study was completed --- Current, full and
unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State,
Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District
of Columbia --- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed
residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
in an accredited core specialty training program leading to
eligibility for board certification --- (NOTE: VA physicians
involved in academic training programs may be required to be board
certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those
approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME), b) OR (2) Those approved by the American
Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US
residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of
verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical
Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with
appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the
physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences ---
Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency
training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic
requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as
"Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs) --- PRPs must be fully
licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be
appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis --- PRPs are not
considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged;
rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to
perform certain restricted duties under supervision ---
Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed
as PRPs --- Proficiency in spoken and written English --- Preferred
Experience: BC/BE in Family Practice or Internal Medicine

position requires a pre-employment physical --- Requires lifting
15-44 pounds; pushing (approx --- 2 hours); reaching above

coordination simultaneously --- Near vision correctable at 13" to
16" to Jaeger 1 to 4 --- Far visions correctable in one eye to

Pershing VA Medical Center is seeking a Medical Director -
Outpatient Services/Comp and Pension! The John J.
Pershing VA Medical Center is in the active and thriving community
of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the "Gateway to the Ozarks." Poplar
Bluff has a population of 17,000, and cost of living in the area is
among the lowest in the country.
We are within a two-hour drive of several large cities and have a
small airport.
The area is quite scenic and outdoor recreational opportunities

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary

Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out
service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus
contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at
certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated
service (minimum 4 years).

not limited to: Responsible for day-to-day operational management
of clinical support activities and functions.
Assumes a leadership role in the development and implementation of
Primary Care (PC) & Compensation and Pension (C&P) processes
for continuous performance improvement, advocates for C&P/PC
with VHA leadership and the medical community, develops
partnerships and coordination with other clinical services.
Responsible for supervision of Primary Care and C&P staff
Provides clinical input and consultative advice and is readily
assessable and responsive to calls from team members with urgent
need for consultation.
Meets with the Associate Chief of Staff and Leadership as necessary
to ensure that the goals and objectives of the VAMC are met.
Communicates with other healthcare providers, as necessary, to
ensure the timely access and continuity of care to Veterans.
Cooperates with, and participates in, Risk Management activities as
necessary and as required by the service chief.
Meets and evaluates potential physician, APP, and PA candidates as
asked by the ACOS or Primary Care.
Assists in orientation of new practitioners to the practice.
Reviewing, evaluating, examining, and rendering professional
judgment and clinical decisions regarding medical service
connection claim and Environmental Health Registries.
Compensation & Pension exam reports solely utilizing templates for
the official record of the Veterans'/service members' disability
examinations.
Make recommendations for, develop, and carry out improvements to
the program to meet changing mission parameters and
requirements.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude
towards customers always.
When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve
complaints.
Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Position is not suitable for telework.
Duties are 70% clinical and 30% administrative.
