APAC-Central, Inc. and its founding companies have been serving our customers since early in the 20th Century and look forward to continued success in the 21st Century!Job Summary: Manages the transportation team and the daily aspects of customer service including but not limited to meeting current as well as new customers while assisting in increasing overall sales and achieving our budget goals. Ensures the organization is operating smoothly and efficiently to exceed the expectations and needs of customers.Essential Accountabilities:

• Communicates directly with Operations Manager and General Manager on all issues
• Interviews, hires and retains internal and external drivers
• Confers with Internal and External Customers to establish delivery schedules and future business - on call from 12AM and as late as 10PM as required
• Prepares driver assignments, job site routes, invoices, delivery tickets and related shipping documents
• Manages the solicitation of new customers/new business
• Maintains radio contact with drivers to expedite deliver
• Periodically checks loads for accuracy
• Acts as customer service representative and assist in resolving customer complaints as required
• Assists in employee selection and training process as required
• Coordinates activities of dispatchers and/or customer service representatives as required
• Receives and input orders for products as required
• Inputs delivery tickets daily
• Ensures compliance with all DOT rules and requirements
• Follows all safety and environmental procedures
• Complies with all and ensures compliance of all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
• Is heavily involved with meeting and presenting the business's financials
• Represents the company at trade association meetings to promote services.
• Participate in forecasting, budgeting and planning strategies.
• Assist in collections of monies owed to the company.
• Provide technical assistance to customers
• Performs other tasks as assigned by General ManagerSkills:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and give out driving instructions on site
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, factor decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situationsMinimum Qualifications: Associates degree or higher in Logistics or Business Management preferredExperience: Five (5) years management experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must have strong communication and negotiation skills.
