Job Description:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the activities of buyers and related workers involved in sourcing and purchasing materials, products, and services. Responsibilities

• Qualify and approve both foreign and domestic suppliers of products and services
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers based on volume, price, quality, on-time delivery, and customer service
• Evaluate existing supplier performance
• Attend trade shows, supplier/industry expositions
• Assist Research and Development in source evaluation and material acquisition for new product introductions to develop and/or improve utilization of strategic suppliers to assist in support of the company's goals and objectives.
• Contribute to the process of developing standard costs for product lines, with a primary role of continually reviewing market conditions/suppliers for long and short-term price reductions
• Resolve supplier or contractor grievances as needed
• Assist in establishing and managing the departmental budgets and participate in the development of goals and strategies for the Purchasing Department
• Interface with Corporate officers on centralized contracts and tasks, and with other functional departments to meet internal and external customer needs
• Supervise employees including employee selection, development, and disciplinary action
• Track, freight, receipts and PPV
• Provide leadership for the department communicating the strategic vision of organization
• Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve organization's goals
• Meet with employees, customers, suppliers, and other guests of the Company as required to build and promote relationships Key Qualifications
  • Five years experience with MRP/ERP systems
  • Five years experience in a procurement capacity
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to effectively communicate with employees, suppliers, and customers
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control
  • Possess strong leadership and managerial skills, promote a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize, delegate, and organize assignments
  • Knowledge of transportation/freight practices
