motion.PURPOSE: To manage the full scope of a plant product line,
from raw material through customer satisfaction and to achieve
and/or exceed business plan goals. The incumbent is responsible for
the operation over multiple shifts through the performance and
development of salaried direct reports (staff of 4 supervisors and
their operative associate teams) in accordance with company
policies, procedures, and contract language. ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety Performance:
- Develop and execute aggressive EHS tactics to meet goals set
forth in business plan; involving all associates. This includes
management of:
- Incident rates, lost time injuries, safety audits and
adherence/enforcement of plant and departmental safety
policies
- Quality Performance:
- Customer satisfaction, internal audit results, customer
returns, scrap rates and variances
- Productivity Performance:
- Achieve productivity goals by focusing on staffing, scheduling,
inventory levels, set up times, lead-time reduction utilizing Lean
thinking, tools and techniques
- Develops production teams through consistent guidance, strong
vision, and KPI oriented leadership to achieve optimal performance
results
- Cost Containment/Continuous Improvement:
- Drive change by using lean principles for connectivity to
compress lead time, reduce inventory and reduce total cost of
use
- Develop and execute tactics to maintain fixed costs per
business plan
- Facilitate lean initiatives, 5-S activities
- Identify and implement structural changes to improve
productivity, fixed and variable business expenses
- Staffing/Team Development:
- Responsible for maintaining production and workforce levels
within the constraints of operation plans, budgets, and policies of
the plant
- Provides support to supervision team and departmental process
engineers in areas of: continuous improvement projects, career
development opportunities, weekend overtime assignments, workforce
adjustments, and employee relations
- Mentor and develop associates to achieve their full
potential
- Foster a positive employee relations environment by offering
opportunity, accountability, rewarding strong performance and
addressing poor performance through a consistent application of
talent management processes

- Labor Variance Reports
- Material Variance Reports
- Inventory Results
- Productivity Reports
- Scrap Report TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Staffing/workforce level management
- Employee relations
- Strong problem solving experience
- Excellent communication/interepersonal skills (verbal and
written)
- Organized and efficient
- Manufacturing leadership experience
- Lean manufacturing, 6 sigma, and project management skills and
certifications are preferred BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School (or equivalent) with 6+ years manufacturing
experience OR
- Bachelor's Degree preferred (Engineering Chemistry, Ind., Tech,
Business or similar) with 3+ years of manufacturing experience All
