About the position
Connell Insurance is searching for a highly experienced VP of Commercial Lines Sales leader to oversee the growth of our company's book of business. Our enterprise is rapidly growing and looking for a dedicated leader to help take the commercial team to the next level!
This role will require the ability to execute, evaluate and implement new processes to support company growth, customer satisfaction, and overall production. This candidate will also be responsible for multiple employees in our regional offices. They must be able to inspire accountability and cultivate talent across the commercial enterprise and maintain responsibility of operating plan budgets and ensuring profitable growth.
Key Performance Indicators: Customer retention, new business production, team management, and overall revenue growth.

Team Management
- Manage and build cohesiveness between commercial sales producers and commercial account management team, educating the sales and account management staff on a wide variety of niche insurance markets using demonstrated coverage knowledge
- Develop and cultivate an atmosphere of critical thinking with an initiative-driven, empowerment mindset by facilitating and encouraging educational opportunities for Commercial Lines team and relationship-building
- Foster open communication and ongoing education within the department through department meetings and training events
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Visit with clients regarding their coverage concerns, providing exceptional customer service.
- Review coverages on large accounts to maintain accuracy in coverage and ensure technical policy language is understood
- Review policies and procedures for effectiveness with a detailed eye for spotting and correcting inefficiencies
- Build and maintain profitable partnerships with carriers and key stakeholders and track contingency


Primary functions, responsibilities, & expectations
Organizational Leadership
- Contribute to company leadership and Account Management Team strategies according to company growth goals and objectives
- Manage Account Management Team with the highest level of professionalism, including and not limited to: Approval of time off, employee mediation meetings, annual reviews, payroll, and any disciplinary actions required
- Collaborate with and coordinate across cross functional teams
- Cultivate high level of talent across our company owned locations

Education / Licensure
-Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience required
-General Lines Property and Casualty License required

- 5+ years of previous work experience in Commercial Lines management
- Adaptable/flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction
- Achievement-oriented -- enjoys taking on challenges, even if they might fail
- Autonomous/Independent -- enjoys working with little direction
- Innovative -- prefers working in unconventional ways or on tasks that require creativity
- High stress tolerance -- thrives in a high-pressure environment

- Proven experience in a Commercial Sales Executive/Leadership role
- Adept at developing and growing a commercial insurance enterprise
- Proven experience in Commercial Insurance sales, marketing and maintaining relationships and professionalism with key clients and carriers
- In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis; extensive knowledge of carriers and industry as a whole
- Strategic mindset with strong Leadership and organizational abilities
- Active General Lines Property and Casualty License
- Effective and efficient in Vertafore, Microsoft Office suite, Multiple management systems, and carrier websites

- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Candidate must meet the requirements of the full job description as stated throughout the duration of employment with Connell Insurance
