Job Purpose: Apply knowledge of materials and engineering theory and methods to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or related processes. Responsible to create, document, develop and implement manufacturing processes to facilitate execution of the SUM, drive continuous improvement by creating and improving Standard Work, and investigate and execute real time problem resolution. Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities: Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, materials and operator input. Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods without bias or blame. Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing. Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations. Troubleshoot new and existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness. Train production personnel in new or existing methods. Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment. Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures. Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances and bottlenecks. Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs. Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards. Purchase equipment, materials, or parts. Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency. Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements. Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field. Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance. Experience and Education: Bachelor's degree in related field Knowledge and Skills Required: 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. CNC Machining and Programming experience preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Ability to accurately measure and read calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges, etc. Ability to identify problems and determine root cause. Solidworks, Autocad, or Camworks experience preferred. Microsoft Suite software experience required (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) Physical Requirements: Must be able up to lift 50 pounds frequently/ often/ repetitively. Must be able to stand on feet for up to 8 hours. Work environment is on the manufacturing floor - temperatures vary substantially. Regular use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Close visual acuity to create/read schematics, drawings and/or a computer screen. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.Ingersoll Rand Inc.
