Bookkeeper Position Title: Bookkeeper Department: Office Reporting Relationship: General Manager Wage Status: Can be Exempt orNon- Exempt Position Summary: Maintain company accounting requirements including AR, AP and payroll General Requirements and Expectations Strive to achieve perfect attendance. Safety conscious toward yourself and your co-workers. Understand that quality in performance and product is of utmost importance. Maintain good housekeeping and organization in the area. Ability to be cross-trained in other positions and strive to learn all positions within the department. Ability to work overtime when production levels require it. Ability to work and communicate within a team environment. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Must be able to pay supplier invoices in a timely manner and take all reasonable discounts. Also, must monitor debt levels for compliance with debt covenants Must be able to communicate well on the telephone and through email to interact with vendors and customers. Must be able to review and maintain manual or computerized records for accounting purposes. Must be able to issue invoices to customers and ensure all receivables are collected promptly. Must be able to record cash receipts, make bank deposits and reconcile all bank accounts to ensure accuracy. Must be able to maintain a petty cash box. Must be able to issue financial statement, provide information to the external accountant for the creation of the company's financial statement and assemble and provide information for external auditors. Must be able to maintain an orderly accounting filing system. Must be able to maintain the chart of accounts. Must be able to calculate variances and report issues to management. Must be able to process and distribute payroll in a timely manner and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have excellent telephone communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations with customers on the phone or through email. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Windows, Excel, Word, Access and Outlook software.
